Dreamweaver Tips
Unable to find file WA_Memento.htm in the configuration/Floaters directory
I uninstalled every WebAssist extension after becoming sufficiently annoyed by the WebAssist Memento popup. This caused the following message to be displayed every time Dreamweaver was started:
Unable to find file WA_Memento.htm in the configuration/Floaters directory. The floater will not be shown.
Follow the instructions below to rid yourself of this last annoying remnant from WebAssist:
- Start Dreamweaver
- Go to: Window -> Workspace Layouts -> Reset {layout}
where {layout} is the name of the layout currently selected
Example: Window -> Workspace Layouts -> Reset Designer - Quit Dreamweaver
- Using Finder or Terminal, navigate to: /Users/{username}/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS4/en_US/Configuration
where {username} is your username on the Mac - Locate the file name: MacFileCache-{code}.dat
where {code} is a hex string such as 60D459CB
Example: MacFileCache-60D459CB.dat - Delete the MacFileCache-*.dat file

History
I installed a few free extensions from WebAssist in Dreamweaver CS4 on my Mac. My intention was to play with them for a project, and if they worked out to purchase their library.
WebAssist includes an extra bit of "software" in their extension - an RSS reader set to display marketing and other drivel from WebAssist. This is installed WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION. At least I didn't see it mentioned before or during installation, nor did I see an option to prevent it from being installed. Once installed, a window appears everytime Dreamweaver is started displaying marketing messages from WebAssist.
